Subject: The Patch?

Cage ( ) posted Mon, 03 January 2000 at 8:36 PM · edited Sun, 11 August 2024 at 4:29 AM

I grabbed a copy of the patch as soon as it came out, but I've hesitated to load it. People seem to have found a number of bugs associated with the patch. The break-up of certain joints alone makes me hesitant. Is it worth loading? Or does it replace the fixed problems with new ones? I've actually had few problems with P4 myself.

Hi Cage I have the patch installed and I don't see many problems with it. Everything I use still work the same and some of the things that didn't like the walk path in the walk designer now work. The obj file export is better IMHO I would not hesitate to install it. EdW

What about the problem with the hands and knees on some figures? That's what worries me....

Does the patch happen to address the figure export problem (or feature loss)? In P3 you used to be able to export a figure as an object with all the body parts grouped, so when it was imported into bryce, there were only 14 (or so) texture map objects for a nude figure. Now when I export a P4 figure as an object, and import into bryce, I get well over 50 objects...Or am I just missing the proper way to export in P4???

Yes, you can export as one group, with welded seams.

The default export on the new OBJ exporter gives me a figure, hair, eyes/mouth-parts, and clothes which makes life waaaay easier in Bryce. The only problem I seem to have is that I can't change the settings in the options box :) Paul

Cage- The only problem I've seen is the knee breakup I reported, it only effects legs if you open figures that have been scaled in length, and you can work around it. Other than that is is a big improvement, especially if you export object files. It does make it 1000% easier to use Poser with Bryce.
