Cage, The Poser importer for RDS is a slug. It runs really slow and is frustrating to try and use. Normaly I Export the Poser figure from Poser as an OBJ file and Import that OBJ into RDS. For shading just place the Poser figures texture template in the Color channel of the shader. If you Import a PZ3 file into RDS you should be able to double click on the figure to take you into the Poser plugin where you can manipulate the figure. But again that runs like a pig. Well at least on my PII 450Mhz with 256mb RAm it runs like a pig.. ;) Let me know if this doesnt help you along. Clint

The Poser importer and the plugin are not the same thing? I downloaded the plugin, but never loaded it onto my system, because it is supposed to be for 5.0, and I assumed that 5.5 had the capability already. Guess I need to load that. Converting to .obj seems kind of wasteful to me somehow. I guess I'm thinking about space on the computer too concretely or something. Can I import an animation as PZ3 to have better rendering capabilities? Texturing? I know I've asked before, but it still isn't working. Better rendering capability is redundant without texturing! Are there any tutorials out there for this sort of thing? Thanks, Clint, for your patience and assistance....

Cage - Yea load up the Poser Importer. Works with 5.5. What version of Poser are you using. Poser 4 doesnt work near as well as Poser 3. Thats been my experience. converting to OBJ is just for still images to render in RDS. Not for animating. Make sure that you are using the proper T-Map with the porper Poser figure or it wont map right. Try this: In Poser pose a figure like you want. Then Export as OBJ. Import the OBJ into RDS. Use the Eye Dropper to select the shader on the figure. In that shaders color channel use a texture map and make sure its the proper one for the figure you are using. You might have to rotate the T-Map in the Shader for it to map right. Make sure that you drag the new shader, with the T-Map, onto the figure. See if that helps. If not let me know. I havent done a lot of animating of poser figures in RDS. I've tried it before but it was to slow for me to deal with. Let me know Cage. If that doesnt help I will try another approach. I have managed to apply a texture map to a figure. Unfortunately, the figure required several different textmaps, and the one I did use was applied indiscriminately to the entire figure. How do I procede in order to avoid this? I'll try the .obj bit, then. I don't know why it bugs me. I'm weird. Thanks!

I keep reading things that suggest that one can DO the above. I try periodically, get nowhere fast, and end up ignoring and neglecting RDS instead of learning to use it. I can import a PZ3 file, no problem. After that, there's a lot of nothing happening. Please help!
