I have several marble textures on my site in the Bryce/Materials section. KenAttached Link: http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=36348&Start=19&Artist=Allen9&ByArtist=Yes
You need to select your marble or whatever material, then in the Material Editor, bring up the values for "reflection" and "Specularity". Those are the two that control how shiny surfaces look. Check out my "Temple of the Moon - Sanctuary" picture (link). The whole place is various types of polished marble (27 hour render, BTW, because reflection - like transparency, eats up the time and makes for long renders).Allen9, That is exactly the effect I am trying to achieve!!!!! I do have one more question. Ca the reflection and specularity be overdone? Your example looks great, but I am afraid that I would screw it up. Can you suggest any settings? Does it depend on the material? Thanks a heap for your response!!!!!
The only way to screw something up is if you don't like the effect. Some material can begin to look unreal the more reflective they get but go with what you like. Overdoing specularity and reflection can have an adverse effect on your render time though, so when you are rendering your scene I suggect using the TIR option in the Render Options dialog. This way you can limit the number of "Total Internal Reflections" and keep the raytracer from bogging down in infinite reflective loops.

I would like to be able to make a marble floor that has a very shiny and reflective surface. Can anyone tell me how this is done? Also, could you provide me with a good marble material? Thanks for your help!
