The person doing it is perfectly ok in doing what he is doing. Nobody forces anyone to buy or even look, so I don't see the harm in it. Yes it is a free program, but it still takes time for the person to create the images so, if somebody see's the images and thinks, 'hey that may save me some time' then I don't see the harm in it. What on EARTH does the price (or no) of the app have to do with it, Blacksteel?? The effort expended is the issue. Time spent. I don't charge my customers by anything other than the hours worked regardless of which app I work in. The idea would be preposterous. 'Let's see now... I worked 14 hours in Director, that's xx bucks, and 19 hours in After Effects, that's yy bucks' etc. What a crazy idea! If someone wants to buy their stuff, well buy it. Otherwise do it yourself. Simple! I don't care how stuff is created - as long as it's not stolen, only the quality and usefulness count. :]FishNose
Well I see your point, but the concept of a FREE software application that produces this sort of art for the backgrounds is somewhat like me downloading free Models from the web, making slight variations on them and then trying to sell them as my own efforts to the alterations. Stolen? Well how does one steal something that is free? I guess its capitalisim at it's finest. Yes,it's ethicaly not right. But obviously that "American Capitalisim" says hey who cares! But Pam's Labors of her render times is the cost. This I see now. (No offence intended Pam)But my point was to inform others who could do the same as well.. Not to knock you buissness efforts. I simply felt that this Forum was designed to help, not to go for the money. I support the purchase of the files on BBAY.com. But I guess this is one of those "Buyer Be ware" sort of deals. As Buddha seems to be the only one that got what I was saying. But also answered it. Thanks. Allerleirauh> Gee thanks for telling me what is my buissness and whats not. I guess I should ask you if I can post here again too... ~Blacksteel
Hi fellow artists, thanks for all the kind support! :-) Blacksteel,do you know that to use Terragen commercially, one has to pay for it? Do you know that the registered version renders much larger than the free one? Did you look at my renders? Do you know that they could not have been done with the free ware? Do you know how long it took me to build and render those images? (they did not magically appear) Do you know that I did not ever mention Chimera Backgrounds once on this forum, but you have? Thanks! ;-) Artists everywhere! Throw out those charcoal sticks and pencils, you must go buy caran d'ache crayons, or your work is meaningless!! Tis not the mark you make, but the cost of the smudge!! sorry guys, need coffee, lol

Well folks, now I have seen everything. Im not picking on people but I was just taking a look at BBAY.com for some new material to play with. Belive it or not, someone is making backgrounds Suposedly for Poser and other modeling software. Now thats not a bad thing. But come on, This guy is using Terragen thats FREE to download!!! I mean geez no brians in that sale. I guess it's ok for MAC people, cause Terragen is a Win only program in Beta mode. Well I just feel it's low blow to the comunity that some unskilled person is selling backgrounds to people with little or no effort on there part. But I guess thats what makes the world go around. ~Blacksteel Off topic? Well, I read this forum the most. =
