Subject: White thumbnails when looking in pose library

Today i bought a new character and installed in a new poser 4.03 installation. When i look in the pose library i get all flat white thumbnail pose files without colour. So the pose is hardly to see. The poser program is a fresh install. Can anybody help me .

The MATs were probably made in ProPak. I run into the same problem and solve it by installing the character into a working window, apply the MAT, then resaving in the same library, effectively overwriting the old one. You'll get a real thumbnail in the library as a result.

Actually, you can mess up your MAT Poses by resaving them. I found that out the hard way. You need to get P3DO Explorer from Free Stuff. It has one feature called PNGtoRSR converter. It'll give you the rsr files you need for thumbnails.

Actually, I suspect that the problem is not the thumbnail at all... and that there might not really be a problem. A texture map should be applied to a plain white model if all you want to show is the texture. You can "tint" the texture by painting the undermodel, and the resultant render will be a blend of colors. Many people go through their models and whitewash them if they intend to use elaborate texture maps (be sure to keep your originals safely somewhere). There is a python script to automate this in ProPack. Many modelers release the object in question as a white model, especially if they supply more than one texture map for it, and thus you'll get a white image in the thumbnail box. Carolly

I agree with Ron- If you apply a MAT Pose and then click the Add to Library button (the "+"), Poser will save the pose back to the library, NOT the MAT Pose. Since MAT Poses are basically "hacks" from cr2 files, there is no way to save a MAT Pose from within Poser. However, you CAN create your own, new, thumbnail (rsr) image: 1) Click the "+" button, but use a different name. 2) Open Windows Explorer, go to the PoserRuntimePoses(subfolder) folder. 3) Delete: the old rsr and the new cr2 files. 4) Next, rename the new rsr to match the old cr2. 5) Re-open the Poses Library and you'll see your new "thumbnail", but since it's the old MAT Pose, it will work just as before. --John
