Mmm, no Pern dragon models that I know of. Sorry, you might have to postwork it. And I'd remember if there was one, because I'd be running for the hills, screaming. ^_^ (Don't like Anne McCaffrey at all, despite having played on Pern-based MUSHes for a long long time. Lets just say I'm glad to be gone.) Good luck with finding one close enough... but oh! You know, you might want to check out the Dragon Factory. They might have headknob options and such. I don't have it myself, so I couldn't tell you, but its worth a look!! Best of luck!
Yeah, one of the things I hate most about her. Fans have the hardest time trying to HONOUR the world she's created. I just don't get it. But so yeah, definitely can't actually search for anything with the word "Pern" in it, but however, sometimes people will use "Dragonrider" or something to describe it instead. And there's lots of dragons - somewhere around here there is a whole string dedicated to just straight forward pictures of almost all the basic dragon models.
Hmm, it's been years since I read those books, but if memory serves me correctly, the dragon in the screen shot you referenced above doesn't really look like the ones from the books. I met Anne McCaffrey once at a book signing. I remember one of her characters was named something like Melora or something (as I said, it's been a long time since I read them), and when she asked me my name, she did a double take at me. I had no idea she was so finickity about her things. Maybe she thought I was ripping off her name or something. LOL She must have never read Gone With the Wind. That disappoints me that she has such a nasty disposition. You'd think she would be flattered that anyone would like her stuff enough to want to do artwork after it. I remember seeing a book that someone published (obviously with her permission) that had illustrations of all the characters from the Pern novels and they were definite rip-offs of other things. One character was very distinctly Scott Bakula. Another was a copy of the American Gothic image with the man and woman with the pitchfork, only without the pitchfork. I wonder how they got away with that. Melanie
I think thoes pictures of that Dragon look like you could make him with Daz's Adult Hatching Dragon. There is two threads on Dragons somewhere here? With darn good information. The one I started was after someone eles, but they link me to the first post. So look for that about 2-weeks ago."Whats the best Dragon"
Love is Grandchildren.
I am a great Pern fan, and I go with Turtle on this one, the adult hatchy seems to suit my idea of the Pernese dragons, which are "nice" dragons. I have a book with a copy of the original cover for the white dragon, and it would definately have to be hatchy for Ruth.

Well, it's been a great many years since I read the Pern stuff, but I must agree that those dragons don't really match my vision of a pern style dragon either... nonetheless, you can get one very like the one in the first screen capture, I would think, using Dragon Factory, as well as the pointier, more gracile dragons I envisioned. Dragon Factory is a fair chunk of money, but it's a very well put-together package and comes with a ton of stuff. I love it.
Melanie, The book you are referring to is The People of Pern. The artwork is by Robin Wood (or Woods. sorry can't remember. She also has some stuff in the free section) and Ann states in it who acted as models for which image. Most of them are based on her family and friends. This is a side of Ann I never knew about. It is rather sad actually. Crystalleaf, as for dragons, which one do you do you consider to be real looking dragons? The ones on the Delray covers or the Bantam Press (or is that corgi? I get confused lol) covers?
You know, it reminds me of the Hollywood stars who won't give autographs to their fans. They sort of forget who actually pays their salaries: those who buy tickets to the movies (or copies of their books, in McCaffrey's case). When they turn a bad side to their fans, it's just plain ungrateful. On the dragon front, there was also the Ultimate Dragon, too. It's been so long since I've seen it, I've forgotten what it looks like, but if anyone knows where that can be found, Crystalleaf, you might check that one out, too. There really are a lot of dragons floating around in Poserdom. Melanie

Ultimate Dragon can be found at Konan's site. I purchased it after checking out the various dragons offered for Poser4. For the money, it's the best choice, IMHO. *grin* I've attached his URL for you. RobinThis site uses cookies to deliver the best experience. Maybe you can help me ;) There is this game based on the Pern series of books ... "Dragonriders of Pern - Chronicles of Pern". I didn't find any good screenshots, but follow the linked url for a few game screenshots. I am looking for an either user-made or for sale model of a similar dragon :) Can you help me?
