I do mostly print media work.
A large amount of is is medium resolution at 200 DPI (dots per inch,not Pixels).

RDS offered the option to choose your dimension units as inches. I haven't found that in C2. I suppose there is a formula for instance if you needed to render an image that was going to print at 200 DPI and you wanted the image to be 8 inches by 10 inches.

That would be easy to set up in RDS, but seems a bit of a mystery to me in C2. The on-line (Acrobat manual) says you can go the size panel and enter your dimensions AND CHOICE OF UNITS (ie: inches, etc.) I'm not finding that.... I found the size panel, but nothing that lets you change units.

I think the "dpi" in the Carrara output settings properties window really means "ppi". We use 175 line screen frequency for our 40" Lithrone offset press. I just figure on setting the render to 300 ppi (dpi in C) and times the inches by the ppi to get the width & height numbers to set. (I.E., 300 ppi x 8" width = 2400 ppi for width etc.). I think 300 ppi sounds a little high for medium screens (133-150) but I find that carrara exibits some "strange" jaggies when rendering certain angels. Better to start a little higher & reduce down to help minimize those potential problems.

Here's what I did... It probably isn't the right way and it's a pain, but it seemed to work.

C2 is going to render at 72 dpi regardless of what you set it to. So, to get 8x10, I set the dimensions to 576x720 (multiplied dimensions x 72). I set the render to 200 dpi.

When i go into photoshop the image is 1600 x 2000 pixels at 72 dpi. (22.222 x 27.778 inches). In photoshop I set the dpi to 200 and the dimensions to 8x10 inches.

It was simpler in Ray Dream Studio, but no big deal.
