I'm getting self shadow artifacts on my imported poser models. This is a common problem with many rendering engines but usually there is a tolerance setting to correct the problem. Is there a way to prevent this in Bryce. Mark Schierenbeck schierenbeck@fuse.net

How did you export the poser model? (Do you export it as an OBJ?) Did you use the smooth tool on it? (the little "E" bottom). If you are using Poser 4 there is no problem with it. I have had that problem with Poser 3 exports too. You can fix it when you use a spot light to the figure (that is what I have done with Poser 3 figures - and it works fine for me). Use warm colors for the light like Yellow/Red colors. That works fine for me. You can see some of my works at my gallery: http://www.3d-grafx-online.de Most of them are Poser3/Bryce works Chris

I use Poser 4 and Bryce 4. The problem still exixts to some degree even when exporting obj. format and smoothing. I am assuming it is due to model quality. Perhaps there is a different smoothing technique that I am not familiar with, which will remedy this. I don't like to add lights that aren't in the reality of the scene. It creates shadows that I might not want in the pic. I think it helps to reduce the shadow intensity in Bryce as most defaults have very heavy shadowing. Still trying for reality in Bryce, Anvilhead.
