Subject: Getting clothes to fit my Poser models???

Hullo!

This question may seem really elementary, but I've been nearly making my monitor have flying lessons!

While I'm getting VERY familiar with how to pose and conform my models, I'm darned near an utter newbie to how to put clothes on my figures. I go through the laborious process of getting my figures "just right" and then when I go to put clothes on them I could nearly sweat blood trying to get them to work. (And fail miserably!)

I'm aware that I could just post produce clothes on the naked figures in photoshop, but really I want to TRY the clothing first.

I adore Michael and Voluptuous Vickie (mostly because of those amazingly conformable faces!), but there don't seem to be alot of clothing options for them. I tried Tailor (I think it was version 1.0), but it was an older version that HATES Voluptuous Vicki and Mike too. 8(

I've read as many tutorials online (Thank you RonKnights! Yours are great but they don't explain how to deal with the non-fitting issue) as I can, but none of them address the issues of:
1.) How do I make the clothes fit so there's no skin peeking through? (Shoes are the worst really!)

2.) How to make the clothes conform/ stick to the figure properly so they move WITH the figure when I pose the entire model?

Other than buying Tailor 1.02 or whatever it is, can anyone please point me to either some documentation I can read or perhaps offer any suggestions?

Really appreciate the help!

Thanks! grins

  1. and 2) have a simple answer. Normally your figure is "figure one" as far as Poser is concerned. Simply select the clothing figure, and click on Figure -> Conform to, and then select Figure 1 from the drop down menu that appears. Next, open the heirarchy editor, and make any body parts completely covered by the clothing invisible. Presto!

Remember, kids! Napalm is Nature's Toothpaste!

You might want to adopt this practice: 1.) Rename each figure as it comes into play. Mike is labelled mike, his left shoe is labelled as such, etc. 2.) When you add clothing, be sure the clothing is selected, then do "conform to." 3.) Be sure to select Mike's body, and not his shirt or shoes before you move him. 4.) When all else is said and done, some figures just rip out of their clothes when they're posed. Often you can make those body parts invisible, so no one knows! It would help to see some real examples of your problems. Post the images in the thread.

I will give these suggestions a try! Thank you, BOTH of you!

If I continue to have problems I will be happy to post pics and be GLADLY accepting of advice. (I might even do a happy dance once things work better!)

(PS: Ron, you ROCK! I love your webpages, and those tutorials of yours are beautifully done. If no one else thanks you for those I will! THANKS! grins)

Thank you very much for the compliments. You made my day. I'm most happy to be of any help to you. I don't always have a lot of time and energy for the more direct help these days, but hopefully some of my tutorials will contine to provide assistance!
