You may have missed it, since it has the catch title: California Dreaming. (That title had no interest for me!) Poser 5 rocks. Don't even spend any more money on the "current Poser world." Save your money for Poser 5. I bet we'll see Poser 5 well before the end of the year, maybe even much sooner. Kupa provided us with a small preview. It appears that many builtin features will make most of what's in the Marketplace obsolete.

Ron, it is not a good idea to include the session ID in a Renderosity link. Under some (uncommon) circumstances someone else can hijack your Renderosity account.

I have no idea how to handle links, other than to copy and paste. Maybe someone can educate me?

hogwarden ( ) posted Wed, 03 July 2002 at 9:48 AM

Yep... Copy and paste, then delete all the SessID nonsense off the end! H:)

MadYuri ( ) posted Wed, 03 July 2002 at 10:37 AM

Right, delete everything from

&Form.sess_id=

till the end of the link. The session ID is not in every Renderosity URL. ;)

Ron, 1. Always read kupa's messages kupa = steve cooper from curious labs 2. I wouldn't be giving anyone a release date. Yes, the screen shots are cool & features to drool over. But we don't know anything about what bugs need to be ironed out. Not to mention production details (creation of CDs, printing the manual, packaging the product, etc.) It'll take a lot more than programing to get P5 in our hot little hands. It's nice to dream though. 3. Some things might become obsolete, but I don't think we should worry about that too much. we'll still need alot of the things that are out there. For example that figure's texture looked like a mike texture to me, so in all likelyhood Mike & Vicky stuff are good to go. and although the face center appears to help with the creation of textures they might not be of the highest quailty (a good starting point though) 4. I fully agree with the "save your pennies" part though. Some of us might even need to upgrade the ole' computer too (like me, ::SOB::)

My copy of P4 came with P2 characters so I have no reason to believe that backwards compatibility will be forgotten in P5. I strongly suspect that we'll be able to use our old favorites - and even new ones that appear between now and the P5 release. As an example, although Mike and Vicky are available, I (and many others best I can tell) still use Posette and Dork. Obsolecence (is that a real word?) is somewhat relative. Keep making stuff - at the very least it's good practive!

ahh! but will they wake up, smell the coffee and let us import bryce files into poser, which i feel is long over due, we can take poser files to bryce but not bryce to poser, seems a waste, good backgrounds and scenes can be built in bryce but can not be imported to poser.

Bobasaur ( ) posted Wed, 03 July 2002 at 5:44 PM

Part of the Bryce equation is Corel's participation. Where do they stand?

I for one am not giving anyone a release date. I'm just making my own feeble guess. And believe me I've been wrong.. Oh, and here's my new tagline. *** This message states my Not So Humble Opinion. Your opinion may differ from mine. I respect your opinion!

gonna frame that one. "Califonia Dreamin' on a winter's day I'd be safe and warm if I was in L.A." ( Is there a hint as to the release date there ? probably not. but kupa did say it would be a bit yet.)
