Subject: Minolta Dimage Scan Elite II

I have the aforementioned scanner and have been using it to scan in my 35mm negs. Works ok, now I'm starting to get into slides...problem, my scans are way too dark. What am I doing wrong? I have gone to Minolta's site, downloaded a patch(?), looked up on google for possiblities, etc. but all to no avail. Would appreciate any help as this is driving me nuts. My slides look nice when viewed with a projector. So, why, when I scan them in, do I have to adjust the brighteness, etc.? Thanks to all in advance!

This particular scanner has ICE3 (by ASF) does it not? I've found that the ROC (color) part of that package can do strange things to images that have mostly OK color, even though it works miracles on faded/overexposed/underexposed/etc pictures. Try it with and without this feature and compare. (Are there adjustments for these features?) I interned briefly with ASF, and while i hate to go against their product, it is one thing that minolta would have no clue about, even though it's part of their scanner.

I have never used this scanner before, but I believe the software interface should allow you to adjust "exposure brightness" contrast etc. Try adjusting some settings and see what happens.

I want to thank you two for the suggestions. They have directed me in the correct direction to make things come out better. These past few weeks I have "played" with the settings and, albeit a shame to do, it has produced much better scans. It is time consuming as each picture seems to need something a bit different. It's a shame one cannot scan in slides as one does negatives. With the negatives, you just simply scan. Oh, well, thank you again. Like I said, the suggestions have pointed me in the correct direction. Thanks!
