Thanks all for your comments on my previous photographs. Here is the Bridge Threshold with a figure (from another picture of the bridge with someone on it) pasted in...thankyou for your suggestions re my thresholds. I am now working on the subway one... :-)>

Here's the subway version I've worked on so far...any comments/critique, ideas regarding these two most welcome! Thanks people. :-)>

Thankyou Alpha, the subway one is a definite possibility, but I know what you mean about the leading lines in the first! :-)>

Lots of work going on here Punkclown. #1 now has a point of focus and your eye now stops at the figure. Not sure about Alphas comment, I feel the front frame makes the threshold, If you where to use a door you would not exclude the building because its part of it. #2 is the stronger picture and your use of light and dark really emphasises the threshold theme. You might think about experimenting with colour change or duotoning or even b&w just to add to the grimy city feel. :O)

hey PC, the subway is really working for me now, and mysnapz B/W suggestion is not far fetched for it either... bridge pic gets a lot more interesting with the figure also....nice work!

I agree the bridge does work a lot better now, the figure gives it a focal point & shows the scale well. The second is still my favourite, I love that shot & the way you have positioned the figure!

I'm outvoted. I apparently am the only one which feels the bridge is by far the better picture. It must be me but I have less interest in the subway picture. Perhaps as suggested it would look better in b/w. Is there some special race memory. Me and my vampire alien brothers are missing with respect to subways. I barely see a threshold but certainly far less mystery. The bridge is sooooo cool. There is this long expance leading to some omega point at the end. ( Figures hungh ) Plus the contrast of the lines and the sky vs the lines and the ground. I found/find it almost surreal and visionary. Am I missing something. But what is wrong with combining two artistic methods in the same picture? What is wrong with leading lines to the figure which exists on the other side of the threshold? Would someone please explain it to me. Bsteph

LOL Brian...I think it's just that the leading lines are SO strong that that element overwhelms the threshold element. I think your points are very valid and well made, however, and personally I really like the bridge picture too! Thanks very much for liking it so much, anyhow! I still haven't determined which (if I even choose one of these two) will be my entry. :-)>

Thanks every one else too, for their comments, oh and Bsteph, mysnapz made a defence on the bridge pic too! ;-)>

I don't like to decide between two great images, but certainly agree with Bsteph; the bridge is sooo cool. You could post it over in 'Bryce' and really confuse things. In the subway, what IS that guy doing against that wall? ...no, guess I don't really want to know. Maybe he should be smoking, but that may be too contrived.

He's clearly a mugger because he is hiding with his back to the wall of a essentially blind turn. But he does not realize he cam be seen from the top floor. Poor chap needs practice. Bsteph

2 works for me...the guy at the botttom completes the pic.

Pictures appear to me, I shoot them.   Elliot Erwitt
