ablc ( ) posted Thu, 12 September 2002 at 8:21 AM · edited Mon, 05 August 2024 at 8:33 AM

Hi all, I've read the manual and I dind't found any chapter explaining how to merge 2 Vue scene. I made a "main big scene" and want to works on detail to another scene then merge them together. Is there a way other than export as... thanks Laurent

If your second scene is not to big, you can select all the objects you want to transport in your first scene. Then click copy, open your first scene and click past. That's the only way you can do it. Guitta

Thanks also, I didn't know this tip, which can be very helpful. Since I always build .obj objects from several small .obj, I can't save them as Vue objects (only have Vue 2, maybe its possible in Vue4). If not it could be in the Vue 5 wishlist ? ;=) Yves

Yves, I don't know why you say you cannot save objects made from small *.OBJ??? I just have tried it in Vue2. I have assembled a Poser head.obj, a dress.obj and a ball.obj (funny yes!) to create a new object. I have grouped them all and then saved as a vob. Works fine:-) Guitta

The way i do it is this i set up the scene and save it now i close it and just pick a day scene add all the pieces you want in the first scene and select them all and save them as an abject Now all you do is open your first scen and then bring in the vue object that you saved dolly

In fact , when I try to save complex objects .obj, several parts made in Amorphium and composed in Vue, it doesn't work (Vue save the object but it never appears in the preview windows). Maybe I should do some tests, trying to see what is the cause (may be due to Amorphium for instance), but I'm afraid it's not interesting for Vue4 users. ;=) Yves

To show your saved objects in the preview window is also very easy to manage. Let's say you have saved your newly created object in a subfolder called OBJECTSINSIDE(or any where else)
Close Vue.
Go in the folder where you have saved your new objects that doesn't show up in the thumbs. Delete the file called "object.prv". Then open Vue and click the OBJECT icon. Look at the folder where you have saved the object (in this case INSIDE) and you will see it:-).

Some more tricks if you need, just ask:-)

and: no problem if you delete object.prv. Vue will create a new one:-)

hum, yes, I'll try what you say this evening. But as far as I remember, an object you just saved should appear in the preview windows without having to delete a file. Anyway, will try, who knows ;=) Yves

Waoooowwww ! it works ! will begin the most surprising object collection of all Vue owners. Maybe put some of them in free stuff, but it will take a long time before I can put them in my website. Thanks Guitta !!!! :=) Yves

One thing I just understood : if I try to save an object with "mapped picture" texture it crashes. I have to change the texture to procedural before to save ! Thanks again Guitta ! :=)

Ahhh? That's new for me. I don't need to do so with Vue 2.1.
