Next the figure is posed. The costume will follow because it is parented but it will not drape correctly at this stage. If you just want one static pose then simply position the body parts as required or load a presaved pose from the library. Mine doesn't follow the pose, says it will as above from Phil's tutorial, but it stays. Thanks for answering so fast. Marque
Load figure into scene.
Turn off IK for all bodyparts.
Zero the figure's pose with the joint edit palette.
Go to the animation palette and reduce the keyframes from 30 down to 5 or so.
Go to key frame 5 and apply the pose you want your figure to be in.
Go back to key frame 1 (zero pose) and load the clothing from the props library. It should fit the figure without any skin poking through then parent it to the "hip".
Select the clothing prop and go into the cloth room.
Click "New Simulation", set start frame to 1 and end frame to 5 and "OK".
Next click "Clothify" and choose the clothing prop from the list and "OK".
Next click "Collide" against and choose the figure and "OK".
Next Click "Calculate simulation".
After the calculations are done the clothing should be fitted to the posed figure in frame 5.
This instruction set is for a fairly tight fitting piece of clothing.
There may have to be more key frames for something that needs to drape down from a parallel position.
Also, under the cloth settings you can have the cloth drape a certain number of frames befrore the animation or final pose begins.

Marque, If it's still not working for you, you might want to read a thread where I talked about fitting dynamic clothing to a sitting Judy. I hope that helps. :) Sueone thing to mention here in the colide against window set colision to less than one for tight fiting cloting the lower the ofsetnumber the closer the cloth is to the skin. also in setting set draping number to the amount of time you want the cloth to settle, IE 30 frains = 1 second. So a drap of 30 fraims lets the stock shape settle for total of 1 second in simulated time. a dress droped from waist hight wont setal out in 1 sec time and light silky things will float down and not even be all the way down in 1 second. So you need to keep this in mind when seting up your sym for calculation. hope this helps Vel

there are probably some clothing items that you will want to use constrained groups to minimise the movement of different clothing parts. such as spagetti straps on a dress which can easily slip off sholders in an animation. I wrote a short tut about constrained and choriographed groups a while back. you can find it here.yes, if you want to change your pose do it in the last frame of your short animation and calculate the simulation again. it is best to figure out the pose completely before you do the simulation. dynamic cloth is never going to be like conforming cloth. you need to calculate dynamics with each pose.

People seem to be getting the hang of this but I'm having a problem. Tried PhilC's tutorial and all it did was frustrate me. I know I MUST be missing something simple. I know the cloth does not conform but how do you pose your characters and have the cloth pose with them? Am I just stupid here? Marque
