http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=184558&Start=7&Artist=jagill&ByArtist=Yes My hand quivered slightly as I put the last petunia into the cool, moist earth, and drew a blanket of soil around it. For June, and still being fairly early in the day the sun seemed to be unusually warm. I was glad the job was done, though it still seemed like I had a lot to do. I seemed rushedthe birds seemed to be chirping too loudly it was almost like a ringing in my ears. I went into the house, feeling uneasy. Cool water on my face didnt seem to help as the sound in my ears got louder, more like a constant clang. I turned and the floor became a velvet glove reaching up to me; the phone, only a few feet away, was impossible to reach. The ringing seemed to come from every direction. I was trapped and unable to get help, the floor trying to devour me from below. A second hand came from above seeking to squash me, as if I were an insect. It pushed me into the floor as if I were one of the petunias I was just planting. It squeezed the air out of my lungs, as the ringing in my ears became a roar. Then I saw a giant black vortex growing ever larger in front of me. I was terrified, but could not move. I still felt the world around me but the maelstrom grew until it seemed to swallow everything. I was its captive, unable to move, and rushing towards it, the roar in my ears the sound of the terrible wormhole that no life could escape.

So why didn't you post the words with it? And to fit the picture a bit better...darken the end of the hole? So, how did you do that in Bryce? I was thinking PS or PSP or something.

Two people effort. Jag the detail for the pic if you've got your ears on. I wrote what I did because I saw a shape that looked like a body at the end of the vortex.

Bravo tjames! I'm glad my image was so inspiring. I will ad your vignette to my pic. Chuck: I wanted to keep the hole center somewhat bright with the outsides dark--the opposite of most wormhole images I have seen. I was trying to create the impression of an immense surrounding force. I copied a Hubble image of the Orion Nebula and applied the pic to several overlapping, transparent plates with different colors. Then I created an elongated cylinder with black cloud textures. I then stretched the cylinder through the nebula images and moved the camera inside the cylinder.

Tjames: No body--just your imagination, or maybe your reflected image on the computer screen. I had a much larger scale in mind, but your writing has shed new light on the image and given me a different perspective that I like very much.

Never used Bryce. Could only think in terms of some sort of Photoshop filter...that must be my "2D" mind...LOL.

I was thinking if wormholes for interstellar travel and blackholes no light can escape...well there's the shape of a body at the end of that wormhole from which no life can escape and besides "Brainstorm" is one of my favorite movies, that and "Dreamscape". I especially like the part when D Quaid goes into the dream and you see the vortex going round hearing the screams in the background. "Altered States" after he drinks the stuff and the soup swirls and flares like electric shocks. "Brainstorm" when hes fighting the physical effects to get to the end of the tunnel. I love sci fi.

Yes a wormhole connecting two black holes. My image is the entrance. I had a pick with a solar sail going into it, but I didn't like the way it turned out. I imagine it would be black, but that wouldn't make a very interesting image ;). Brainstorm and Dreamscape were very good. I didn't care for Altered States though.
