Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 11 12:18 am)
It's not DPI that counts JettBoy, but image size (i.e. 3200x2400, 1600x1600 etc.)...the larger the image size, the better the quality :o) Cheers

Yep, the DPI setting only becomes important when you print the image... although most modern printer drivers aren't fussed as they re-size images on the fly. "Proper" printing equipment is more reliant upon the DPI, so if you get images printed professionally, you might need to supply them at a specific DPI. PC monitor DPI is static, depending upon the size of your monitor and resolution setting.
Yeah, if you're doing stuff for poser, only the DPI for the final rendered images matters, and only then if you're doing them for print. In every 3D application, the resolution of a texture is referred to as the per-pixel dimensions. A 512x512 iamge map is considered low resolution, where soemthing along the lines of 4000x4000 is high resolution. 1600x1600 can be considered high-resolution depending upon the detail is applies to to the mesh and the way the mesh is designed. High-resolution is pretty much a relative term in 3D depending upon what the mesh itself needs.

Forgive my ignorance, but I work in print. High resolution for press is generally 300-400dpi at 100% physical (print) size (pixel size doesn't really mean anything). I've been doing my own texture maps for Poser and generally they look fine at 72-120dpi, but I've tried a few experimental maps with tattoos, and at that res they show up badly pixelated in Poser. If I save these maps at a higher res (400 dpi?..what?) will the problem get fixed? Will a higher resolution affect the size (pixel size) and cause mapping problems? Help! I'm beggin'...
