Hello, I've released Lots of Shaders!, a collection of pre-made shaders for Carrara Studio 2.1 . The pack contains 120 procedural shaders covering a wide range of materials . Litst:
In theory, this pack would even provide a bigger value aside from getting all these wonderful shaders, if it actually shows you how you put them together. In other words, this package provides you with a recipe for all these shaders?
They look great.

No real recipe, though there are tips on how to use the shaders in the pack, and shaders in general . If you're interrested by these tips, you can have a look at the readme, it's available on the product page . I've tried to put a little something unusual in most shaders so people can discover new techniques as they dissect them . Also, some shaders are not meant to be used as is, but instead to show specific techniques (weight maps, complex noises, wire netting ...) litst

I learned so much from Real World Metals, this new shader pack is hard to pass up. Will they work with C1.1? memaci

Thanks litst, these are really neat. Hope you don't mind a little "extra" info for a few MacHeads-

To change the PC shader to a MAC shader (for Mac users):

Drag the shader file onto ResEdit then "Get Info" for the file
& click OK when the pop-up window asks if you want to add a resource fork. Then change the "creator" type to CRRA and change the File type to CBRF. Save the change & you're in business. Or, copy this AppelScript into a new script (launch Script Editor & just paste it in). Save it as a script application. Then just drag your shaders onto the script, no muss, no fuss. The script will change "any" text file so be careful with read-me files, etc.

Memaci, Most of the shaders will work perfectly with CS 1.1, but there may be some little differences with some of them . Here's the part of the readme that talks about this : --------------------- > IMPORTANT ! > Lots of Shaders! is designed for Carrara Studio 2.1 . If you use a previous version (Carrara 1.0, Carrara Studio 1.1 or Carrara Studio 2.0), there may be some compatibility problems that, in the worst cases, might cause Carrara to freeze with some shaders that have a complex structure (such as the eye shader) . Those problems should be very rare, though, and you should still be able to use the majority of the shaders . --------------------- You'll see Carrara freeze if you open the eye shader in CS 2.0 (no problem with CS 1.1 though), and some complex structures in other shaders might cause problems too . Will, Thanks for giving us this tip . The pack has been tested on CS 2.1 on Mac and the shaders opened okay because the problem you're refering to has been fixed by Eovia in 2.1 patch . I'm not sure, you may have to convert the shaders the way you described if you're on a previous version of Carrara ... but maybe not, it depends if the bug has been fixed on the PC side or on the Mac side . litst

I did download the sampler and they look great. I got to gather my funds, but I will be getting this in the future. Good work litst.
Willf, I just downloaded the zip file it expanded with stufit expander and I just used the browser tray to include the new folder, of course, I am using OS X 10.2 which doesn't really need the resource forks if the files have extensions.

Thanks for the info Re OSX, guess I'll need to upgrade one of these days. The above info is apparently only for Mac OS 9. The shaders do seem to work with C 1.1, although I didn't play with them too much. Suppose I should upgrade to C 2 one of these days also!

Whoa! I'm a bit behind the times! Just now getting caught up with email and the forum. You guys have been busy! Terri's Cheddar, huh? Compliment, or not? Cracked me up, dude. Too funny. I'm looking forward to shader experimentations, now that I'll be home for awhile.
