Here are a few pics of some Todd McFarlane figures that I thought would make really cool additions to the poser world.

They appear to be tangible. Not just 2D pictures. Curious as to which lights you used. Very nice indeed. And they somewhat excite me.

Actually, the props to make most of these already exist; it would be a simple matter of retexturing and creating a few new transmaps. But certainly all the toys exist for the one at the top. God bless McFarlane, y'know? The guy really raised the bar for "action figures", and now everyone else is finally cluing in and following suit. The downside is you have these overpriced sculptures, but when the detail is this tight, I guess the money must be worth it. <--- proud owner of all four of MacFarlane's "Kiss" figures

The women rather remind me of the old Frank Frazetta fantasy book covers of the 1970's. Great job.

JeffH ( ) posted Mon, 09 December 2002 at 3:20 PM

Okay I have a question. Why do all these figure have one oversized boot/foot? -Jeff

Valandar ( ) posted Mon, 09 December 2002 at 3:29 PM

To hide their club foot?

Remember, kids! Napalm is Nature's Toothpaste!

Stormrage ( ) posted Mon, 09 December 2002 at 3:41 PM

yep the second one does look like ivyroses and valandar's outfit. I just textured it so i know what it looks like really well :) the ax could be from Taylon's by dave71(?) you could get everything to do these easily in either freestuff or the store. :)

CrystalDragon ( ) posted Mon, 09 December 2002 at 4:17 PM

For the second & third one, you could use the valkyrie stuff from over at RDNA. The boots are nearly a perfect match. ~DM

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Mon, 09 December 2002 at 4:30 PM

sixus1 has a Spawn character for Michael in Free Stuff.

Why do all these figure have one oversized boot/foot?

It's all the rage now, JeffH. All the kids are wearing them.

oh my lord I am so horrible, such a mark for all the McFarlane gals....I took my first few Angelas and Tiffs out of the box...all my other action figures McFarlane and otherwise (save a select few) are mad because they are minty fresh on card. Loving the Tortured Souls 2 ladies. Spawn angels Domina and Valkyrie are stunners.

mizombie ( ) posted Mon, 09 December 2002 at 6:41 PM

to answer the one shoe bigger than the other question, there is no vaccine for Polio in hell....so hence the clubbed boot appareal. Seriously, all of the Spawn and valkyrie's have that type armor (just the way McFarland designed em) sizing, usually on the same side the arms are more armored too. I would only guess as he liked the armor of those who jousted (one side was more heavily armored then the other)

atom123 ( ) posted Mon, 09 December 2002 at 7:45 PM

so was saving my malebogia a good thing????

Schlabber ( ) posted Tue, 10 December 2002 at 6:14 AM

oh - yeah ... lol My first thoughts when I read that Spawn - books: Oh - heck, we would never be able to do that in 3D. I wonder if anyone comes up with an Angela or a Malebogia - I could do the poses - but I think it's impossible to do the figures - and the kind or art McFarlane does with his - uhm - Comics ... Well - I would be glad if I could say I was wrong one day :o).

queri ( ) posted Tue, 10 December 2002 at 1:06 PM

Les see, just about everything in the first on is in VS's Sword Maidens. SPecs2 has that oversized boot. the Rdna hunter set has most of the other stuff if you add in Styxx's charactersets-- especially Are. I think the stuff for Taylon should work for the cutlery. Valendar and Ivyroses's savage stuff have the rest -- all we Reeeeeely need are those head wings. Emily

mizombie ( ) posted Tue, 10 December 2002 at 1:23 PM

can you scale down the wings from Daz ro work on that ? i don't own them they seem like they might work??? just a suggestion ?

queri ( ) posted Tue, 10 December 2002 at 6:34 PM

The Daz wings are awfully sheer and Sharkey's wings are awfully articulate-- gor it'd be a mess. However, I haven't tried the little wings for Morris's angel. We are coming out our armpits with wings this xmas!! LOLOLOL!! Emily

Damn, i honestly did'nt expect this many replies, But it's all good and im glad you all enjoyed the pics. I really do love the oversized boot concept, I'm not sure if it's because it makes them look so bad assed ready to go off the heazy and beat the shit outta something or if it's just because it's so damn stylish, but for any matter its a hype look and I think McFarlane scored big with it. Thanx for all the suggestions on where to get the stuff to do all this, I was the one who posted at RDNA and , your right, specs boots are the deal, easily texturable and they render veyr well. I think im gonna take a shot at trying to do the rest post work first with a few odds and ends trown into the render, but if it turns out looking quite tired, I think I'll move on to the renderosity approch, lol. Well thanx again for all your comments and the tight pics you all posted ( other gr8 ideas by the way ) Oh and for the the people who were wandering the names of the figs. the first one is Domina and the second is Valkrie. P.S. um... I also took my angel outta the box....
