Description
Hi y'all. The northeast region of Scotland is littered with these ancient sites. This one is from about 2500 B.C.There were piles of ashes found in the center of this ring and near that large flat stone that was originally flanked by two large upright stones. This created a 'frame' for the full moon at a certain time of the year.
These sites were always situated away from the living areas of its unknown builders. It is believed to have been a burial/cremation site for them. When you stand there,(it is on the top of a hill at the beginning of the highlands),and look around you,you see you are surrounded by a ring of beautiful blue mountains. It's like they created a stone ring at the center of the ring of mountains. It feels indescribably awesome to be there and the silence is profound!I hope you can get at least a little sense of that from my pic.
This was taken the same day as my Kildrummy ruins shot,(or ruined Kildrummy shots, lol). So it was raining here as well. But fortunately it was not a heavy rain, so it didn't spoil the shot. It's my first real panorama and not one I faked,(LOL) by cropping.Hope you like it.Wish I'd done the full 360 for you.Oh well.
Have a great weekend everyone. Thanks for looking and of course your comments are always appreciated!!!! :)-Marlene

Your photo is incredibly beautiful. The colors are so vibrant (and I love the wide angle). Looking forward to a time when we have the ability to step inside an image. I could live in there.
