Description

I had so much fun wandering around town looking for antiques and something nostalgic. :-) I took pictures of many items that I will play with and see if any are postable. The funniest thing was that I was walking home when I noticed the barber pole just sitting there staring back at me. hehe I'd walked right past it on my search; taking it for granted as just an old building that had always been there. Emery's Barber Shop has long been closed but I thought it was interesting that there were still rocking chairs on the old porch. I would like to submit this photo as my entry to the August Challenge. :-) Hope you all enjoy and any comments or advice are always welcome. :-)

Oh my, this is really cool and absolutely nostalgic - I remember getting haircuts in places like this for $0.25 - then I would go to the Sunday matinee for $0.10 - can't buy a peanut for that now :-) Superb image and exquisite presentation! Well done indeed!

has a wonderful laid back, yep, nostalgic look in the subject, tone & wistful whispy vignette... pull the dryer out on the porch, now that would be something eh :]

Wow! Maggie thats a brilliant photo! When I was a kid there was a barber shop similar to that in town on this old building with a porch and all like this. The building housed a dentist office to. I vaguely remember it because its been gone for years. The house and all was torn down and rebuilt. The other old barber shop finally after years and years of standing empty was finally converted into an apartment. So the pole which adorned its post outside is gone also. Sad to because these are such gorgeous reminders of days gone by. Hugs maggie wonderful pic. :)

Ah, where old men sit and talk, and wild hairs die a slow, hard death! :) I remember well the old time barbers stropping their straight razors. A wonderful image - thank you!

I like your post-work you made in this very much (though you maybe could have done the effect maybe with some filter or gradient + layer) and it's a very nice building, that veranda looks so wonderfully comfy to sit at. -Maybe just sit and look at passing people with a wave of a hand as hello and cool yourself a warm evening with some cold ice-tea...or a beer :D This type of architecture is interesting and i feel tempted to look inside so much :D Not for a haircut though lol :D Looking forward to see more of your hometown... :)
