Description

Something I started a long, long time ago and finally got round to finishing. Not really been doing much art over the past few months, got distracted by Guild Wars, had lots to do at work and generally not been feeling too great mentally since losing my mum in March. In the past I would have been asking her opinion on my work as it progressed and it still feels so weird to finish a piece then not be able to show her. Anyways, before I get any more depressing... This is my cat "Styx", we have two other cats; Andrew Sarcophagus & Squarepuss. Andrew, whose name has now become Softpuss moved in with us last year and Squarepuss turned up in the garden one day then also decided to live with us. It's really getting a little odd and I'm starting to feel like the crazy neighbourhood cat lady. I have no idea where all these cats come from (apart from Styx as I paid for him). They just turn up, start coming in the house, I feel obliged to feed them then they're just here... ALL THE TIME! I ask around, put notices up enquiring if anyone has lost a cat matching whatever description applies, no one ever replies. Where the heck do all these cats come from? I don't mind all that much, I love cats but I'm worried that in 5 or 6 years time I'll require a mansion with acres of land in the countryside to house the 2,356 cats that have mysteriously adopted me. *shrug* Paintshop Pro, Photoshop, Corel Painter & A5 Wacom. I need a new tip for my Wacom pen damnit, I've worn this one right down.

just think that they are turning up for a reason, my cat Kimba - as my mum has not been feeling to well - she had cancer not long ago, and all he does all day is stay by her side and not lose sight of her.. just think that these cats are like the ones of old legends - they are guardians, and take comfort in their presence.....now before i get anymore philosophical... :-) Beautiful image - beautifully done...

It's beautiful! I love the look of the fur. Like you could touch it and it would feel soft. Beautiful blending of the colours of the fur as well. Lovely work.

Absolutely beautiful.. the intense, almost melancholy eyes contrasted against the light and pastel foilage/blooms make for a compelling contradiction of emotion from my view.

Awesome painting! I like the amount of contrast in lighting, from the washed out grass to deep shadows to black fur; makes me squint as if it were real daylight! -- I live with seven cats; that's too many, so watch out! You can't give them the attention they deserve. My situation is made more difficult by the four dogs and six parakeets... and having a job is a necessity that takes more time from them!

I think Styx probably goes out and tells them that you have the best food in town and should come over...It's a thought. Anyway, I really enjoy your artwork. You always blow me away with your painting abilities and the realism you are able to get from your art is incredible. I know you will get over being down and start creating new and exciting artwork...Be well!

Purfect expression, they are so tuned in all the time. I think they're smarter than us sometimes. My cat, Edie Sedgewick, would sit by the TV and watch me. Amazing piece...V...
