there were several butties chasing each other and would not land for more than a minute and as I would approach they would fly. I got about 6 feet from this one and manage to get this shot before it was gone. it looks similar to a monarch but I do not think it is.too much difference in markings I hope this new week brings health relief to those that are sick and otherwise wonderful time thanks for your visit and comments

Excellent color and contrast. The butties probably heard you crunching on the dried leaves and would take flight. Perhaps this one was a bit deaf,great capture.

The play of light and shadow give a nice sense of depth to the image. I believe it is a Monarch - they vary somewhat in appearance too. Nice shot!
