Description

A shallow depth of field (DOF) or a deep one, a short exposure time or a long exposure time, that can be tough questions. These settings result in different pictures, as you can see. What one do you like the best? Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 100 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

I prefer the second also. Sometimes a slight blurr is good. In this case, I think not. I like the silkiness of the water. Aloha

The one on the right, please. The water-blur in the right pic lends a sense of softness to the background so the flowers remain principal. Thank you for setting out this example. We need such bits to grow as photographers -- Dick

It all depends on what you want to focus the watcher's attention on... If the landscape on the background was wider, I would say the second one but, in this particular case, I wanna say the first one!

If the background was just flowers or bushes, then I would probably choose the first one as it would focus in on our intended subject. In the second image, we don't want to loose focus on the beautiful river water. In this case.....the second picture would be best. Yup! The second picture is most beautiful. Did we pass the test? Aloha

I like the one on the right best! The water flowing in the background really brings out the flowers. The blurry background only makes me wonder what it looks like unblurred. Excellent composition.

I like the one on the right perhaps because the cascade hints at a veil or a fall of white hair and is just muted enough to allow the flowers to emerge without condemning what follows.

Excellent juxtapositioning of the pictures. I prefer the second one because the waterfall is more visible which gives the picture a body compared to the blur in the first picture. Brilliant take!

Great idea this study of DOF with different exposure Jan-Carel ! Difficult to make a choice ! In each one there are different good things. I like the way it's possible to see a landscape in different ways staying in the same place. The first on is more soft and harmonious in all, but in the second one there's this lovely effect of the water... I take both of them ;o)))) no choice tonight ! Have a nice week-end. Hugs.
