Description

I got tired of chasing birds around my yard with mixed results so I decided to buy some bird feeders and place them strategically around my picture window. It took a couple of days for the birds to finally find the feeders and this was one of my first visitors. To the best of my knowledge this is a female Northern Cardinal, quite common here. She never did go to the feeder and after some research I found that: Female cardinals get waited on hand-and-foot by their male partners. Their male partners pick up the seeds from the feeders and take the seeds to the females. After a few minutes the male showed up and brought her some seeds...I guess chivalry is alive and well in the bird kingdom. Thanks for you many comments on my last post, I thank all of you for taking the time to leave some feedback...Aloha to All!

I like the way you included the tree which has some of the same orange color as the bird! Perfect composition and vote :)

Great shot of the female...hmmm, that branch looks familiar. :) I think I read somewhere that cardinals mate for life...very touching.
