Description
Do a search for 'Chauliodus Sloani,' and you'll see the actual fish that this one is based on. I've taken a few physiological liberties for effect. I recall seeing an illustratiion of this fish in some library refrence books as a kid and it made an impression then. I'ts part of an entire community of predators and prey that exist in total darkness in the depths of the ocean. The bizzare and alienlike animals from these depths have always fascinated me.
I dont know if this is really finished or not but its been getting doodled with for months and seems worth posting now. This is the first good painting i've done from scratch in photosop with my Wacom. It takes some getiing used to, but ultimately is a fantastic device. Lots of fun on this one.

Well done. That dark world at the "bottom" of the ocean is well captured here. Sometimes I wonder why they still have eyes.

Those deep sea creatures fascinate me too, and I think you have done a marvellous job with this! I love the colors, textures and the transparent, almost glassy look.

scary... you've done a very good job here. Beautifully (but visciously) painted.
