Description

Today it's a special day, the day of birth of Sheila a.k.a. tvernuccio! You've stimulated me to look to this world with the eyes of a child, open-minded and fascinated by discovering this reality little by little! This one is for you!

~ Happy birthday, Sheila! ~

The earth is round as you can see! But it is not that apparent! The telelens warps the straight lines a bit, so the waterline should be more straight (it's bending so little by the earth's spherical shape that it would not be visible here). But... that waterline is very sharp, because the body of water of this lake is covering a part of the spherical earth, and on the height I am standing the horizon is on a distance of about 5 or 6 km (3 or almost 4 miles). When I would lie down on the ground the horizon would be even closer! If I would stand a little higher the horizon would be further away and on a certain height (say 20 meters (70 feet) or so) I would reach a point where I could see the other lakeside. If Galileo had lived here he could have proven his point! :) Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 300 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

Awwww, thank you, Jan-Carel!!!!!! I LOVE it!!!! You chose the most perfect image for me!!! When i'm at the sea, that's what i love more than anything else is to look at the sky and ocean, especially at sunrise and sunset when the colors are the most incredible...like this one you chose for me! I love the golden colors!!! orange and yellow...perfect!! my fav. colors!!! and the sunbeams there on the right are gorgeous, as is the sun peeking thru the clouds! When i see that boat moving toward the sunbeams, well, something about it is so hopeful! Such an incredibly gorgeous capture with those mountains in the background!!! Thank you so much, Jan-Carel!!!! Did you know that if you had fantastic eyesight and you could stand much higher you would be able to see the back of your head. I think I saw that in a Christmas cracker LOL. Superb dedication, and once again a very happy birthday to Shelia!!!
