Description

On instigation of Wim we start our first hike together in the Lötschental, a valley enclosed by high mountains with - ambiguously - a Breithorn on the left (3782 m, 12408 ft) and a Breithorn on the right (3785 m, 12418 ft), and even some higher mountains. In Kippel we just stop a second to look in this valley and the Langgletscher (Lang Glacier) on the background. After shooting this we continue to drive to the end of the valley, park the car there and ascend along the creek and the glacier to the Aanenhütte. Beautiful, just beautiful, Jan-Carel. I would love to scramble over this valley, but my arthritic ankles have really 'kicked in' with our recent cold, wet weather. I found even getting on the bus an effort. Regards, John.
