Description

...second version of this theme :) First one, made in Vue 4, more than a year ago, was pretty good, judging from the comments, at least. But I couldn't resist trying this, with the new rendering possibilities in Vue5I :) Rendered with imagebased lighting (HDRI), 2 hrs. render. I've modified the "Chinook Salmon" texture (comes with the download from "Toucan") in several aspects: increasing the resolution & some colour adjustments, designing bump-maps , reflections, and transparency maps for the fins. The grass is made with Bantam3D "Grass 7". Knowing what I wanted, I rendered an alpha-mask of the salmon, and used it for "alpha picture" in "Grass", thereby blocking the area where the fish was to be - otherwise you could get straws sticking through the body etc. The grass object here is exceptionally huge, 23 mb., as it was to be used in this close-up. Normally the objects are smaller than 1 mb. - The "lure" is freestuff from the web, thanks! Thanks for looking, comments etc. welcome and very much appreicated. Have a nice day - Lars

My only question would be whether their heads are really that shiny/relective. I don't know much about salmon (they're not reef fish ;-) ), so they may well be. Other than that, I'd say it's absolutely perfect! I can never get grass from that program to look anywhere near that good! Impressive! V

Superbly done. I have the Vue demo and it seems a bit confusing to me but I have seen what it can do. You do any 3D app justice. I like you prehistoric scenes as well. Maybe I am too used to Bryce.

This is incredibly well done. The process you went through to create it is mind blowing. Your efforts have paid off very well. V

The grass is fantastic, but I'm not sure about the salmon's head being that reflective.

I agree with bruno021, everything is great except the amount of reflection on the fish's head.

WOW!!! I thought this was a photo!! Fabulous scene and the grass is outstanding. Like what you've done with the salmon, except the head does seem a little too shiny. Bravo!!!!

Fantastic work, the only thing is the head is too shiny and the lower part of the mouth, what is that white thing? The grass is fantastic and overall excellent image.
