Everywhere people with camera's find their way in this world to make their shots. I like the art of taking realistic pictures, because it provides a way to show how I experience this world. It is a way for other people to look through my eyes.Nature ... exists primarily for her face, her look, her appeals to the heart and the imaginationGeorge MacDonaldJan-Carel Vierbergen
Picture courtesy of Ruut WegmanBIOIt is all in the family: love for hiking in the nature. Since my childhood I'm used to walk with father, brothers, cousins, etc., and take pictures (Minolta X-700 with 28-70 mm and 100-300 mm zoom) of what I see. I grew up in Ede (The Netherlands), studied Electrical Engineering in Eindhoven and I am working now as Coordinator e-learning at the Christelijke Hogeschool Ede (http://www.che.nl) where I implement digital assessments for students and assist students in DTP and creating websites.
Since I know little about photographing as well as computer science it was not difficult to find ways for putting images on the web. The only thing to look for now is to find ways for showing the slides in a convenient way. I tried already something at http://www.che.nl/users/jcv (Dutch only, click at Dia's van de natuur in Nederland en de Alpen), but this platform provides good means to share my pictures with others.
I hope you enjoy this!

Strange to se so many ripples on a lake, but so lovely to see with the strange color of the water. I could imagine how the water is cold... Brrrrrrrr !!!! Great details Jan-Carel.

You truly are the National Geography-photographer of this place. You show us the most stunning photos, with such interesting facts to go with em. I feel i learn something new each time i look at one of your uploads. And that makes you a great inspiration. I would like to formelly thank you for this past year, youve been so supportive of my photos and i have enjoyed and valued your feedback so much. Thank you Jan-Carel! I have seen tiny rollers only inches high that reach to the horizon out by the Marquesas. Here the questions are of thermal fetch and like neutrons the stopping distance is far greater than the containment thickness. Some upstream knows the downstream runoff and thawing rates.

I agree with Zacko. You've taken us to places we'd never have the chance to see. You're our teacher and we are your students. I love the different textures of the sediments. I know you are right about not putting your hand in the water. Not only would it be very cold, but one of the golden rules is ... leave no trace behind. Another words, look but don't touch. I can't wait to see this hut you're taking us too!! And I'll be the view is going to be spectacular.
