Description


This image is from a series of photographs made around Lake Bistineau, located in Louisiana. The view is from the state park. The lake was in a 5' drawdown that was to last until January, 2001, when 7' was reached. The aquatic growth had choked the channel and the boat loading ramps. The trees are bald cypress.

You've captured the never-ending (at least one can hope it is infinite) struggle of humanity vs nature. Nice to hear the back-story behind the image!

These trees have a resilience. Like the tamaracs around here they take to water and adapt when the water recedes. Nice to have your camera to record the cycle of nature.
