Description

Looking down on the glacier you'll probably recognise the characteristic shape with the 'little' open part at the end. The zoomed version shows some walking dots that walked in a few minutes after I shot the upper one (they're not there as far as I could distinguish while counting the dots on my screen). Funny thing is, while I'm preparing the images to post them I take a close look to check the quality and then I discover people everywhere, like here at the end of the Turtmanngletscher! When they'd send me on a mission to Mars I would even see people there, I guess! :) Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 28 mm and 300 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

The sense of scale you achieve in these photos always amazes me. What a marvellous documentary you make of mountains.

That's what we're afraid of. The projection of neutral qualities on a hostile environment. If Mars is cuddley, Mars is cuddley. If Mercury is a hot spot for night life. Mercury is a night owl. But traffic and crowding on a glacier is unbelievable!

So nice your close up !!! I like in particular the second one, with this strange effect on the glacier, seems a head of a funny Alien ;o))))) Then so much traffic on the glacier ???? a gorgious serie. So..... cold !!!! Have a wonderful day Jan-Carel.

Once again i have to say how much i love these "collages" of yours. Where you show us the zoomed version as well, giving everything such a great sense of scale. Hadnt you showed us that bottom one as well, i would have thought that that glacier wouldnt have been bigger than 10-15 meters, LOL. And seeing that camp site really makes ya go....WOW! LOL. Incredible work....both photographing of course, but also finding these folks afterwards. Im betting that "the Neatimage Plug-in" would be like a regular holocast for all those people in your shots, lol. Have a great day!

This is the part of the glacier that most captured your attention but it's really an interesting part with so many little (and main) details! Looks there are some little bubbles like it is under water or glass. This time is not a red point but this is really huge. Love this series!!

Fantastic capture of this glacier and the parts where the melt water comes out and the fracture points along the glacier where thier has been a cave-in. A spectacular and awesome image.

You really should include people in your powerful glaciers scenes, and I am glad you did. Now there is a superb sence of scale. This has been a quality series of photos. Keep up the fine shots! v

I could see the trail left behind by hikers in the top image. While looking at the opening of the glacier in the bottom image, you can make out people to the left. It appears like some of their things are left on slightly raised area behind them. Amazing Jan-Carel. Wonderful image. :) V

Very interesting. Funny how in your head, you always think of glaciers as pearly white and prestine! Love the photo, JC

looking at the first one you dont really see anything to indicate how big the whole thing is... then you see the zoom and it clicks! Stunning scenery! Have you got a zoom of that star shaped feature? i would think that might yield interesting results =)
