It's okay to take peoples pictures if they are in a "Public space", and you do not legaly need their permission. The rest is a moral/courtesy issue. If you catch someone picking their nose, it is probably best to toss it. ; ) But I am sure this guy would be flattered! Nice work my friend!

After seeing your pictures of artist at work, I realized that I should have taken some pictures of people painting on the walls of a fence when visiting the other side of the island. Maybe next time. Excellent shot and great idea. Aloha

He is not like the portrait aritst at the State Fair that dash out a caricature in a few moments. I thought they had something to show photinterpretters (PI) who must grasp the significance of objects on earth as they direct the focus of cameras. Decision is a big part of tacking up a piece and then welding it into a bronze likeness. Paint goes on in odd multiplication of the contrast.

Digimon is mostly right on the legal issue, the second part is in how the image is used, if for commercial gain maybe, and if it is used to illustrate a polical, or morally ambigious position maybe not. But youre safe as are most of us, street photography has a long valid history in fine art photography ~ it's dicey for the corporations and mass marketing tho. Didn't really want to know all this did you LOL!

Very nice photo! I like the little girl on the left that is watching him work. Maybe she will grow up and be an artist because of him. Nice shot! V (:

Another great one and subtle--the child in the lower left has a painterly, Renaissance feel. "Painters" and "portraitists" who use photographs, instead of live sittings, miss the essence of the art in my opinion--so the subtle and mocking undertone of jocko500, with his superb capture of the kid in the lower left, undertanding "painting" and "portraiture" (and kids) better than the bored mimic of photographs in oils (or other medium) centerstage....
