Description

I'd participated in a couple of exhibitions in 2004 but they were overseas (one in the US, one in France) and I didn't attend. Finally though, here's one I did go to! And who better to go alongside than my dear friend Cassie aka crrunchyfrog - we contributed one canvas each :-) Tonight was the opening night of this exhibition at nearby Wollombi Cultural Centre and I took some photos. Of course this was no mere artistic expose but a fund-raising event in protest of the planned development of our beautiful and tranquil area. These people are not looking at the long-term implications. 3,700 houses, a resort and a golf course are on the cards, which would undoubtedly mean a sacrilegious decimation of our local environment and its rich biodiversity of wildlife. Not if we can help it! Both of these canvases feature in our respective galleries: Left - Drowning Reaper ::::: Right - Prospectus I Thank you as always for taking a look and your feedback is much appreciated indeed :-)

Both are wonderful pieces and a great contribution to the exhibition. Jim, I want to wish your success in your efforts. Your concerns are well expressed and I will keep you all in my prayers as you try to stop this project. Bless you!

What a nice homely show :-) To see both your works together, and in exhibition, gives them some context lacking in the close-up pix, and gives me another perspective to admire them from. Congratulations both and good luck with the cause!

Your cause is noble and to all thinking people, the obviously correct action. Unfortunately from what I have seen over the years, interests of a prifitable nature almost always win out over the beauty of nature. I suggest you capture the beauty in art and photography as much as you can, and after they destroy it, you can display before and after views as a testament to mans foolish habit of 'pissing in his own drinking water' so to speak. Best of luck.

Thanks for sharing this with us Jim, both your works look great hanging there & I have to agree about seeing them in context like this. I hope they got the reception they deserve & that the exhibition as a whole does well too for such a good cause.

Well, bravo for you and your fellow protestors! ...and nowadays, seems like "sacrilegious decimation" is the MO for developers and how powerless those interested in environmental preservation feel ! it just kills me every time I see natural habitats destroyed to make room for urban sprawl and so-called 'progress' stepping off soapbox now sorry for the little digression...both artworks are very cool !!!
