Beautiful work. Even for a bright day like this, I find that the shadows are still a bit too sharp, but this is still brilliant. :o)

The project is looking great Mak! - just watched the teaser - how did you reproduce the surrounding valley landscape? - very cool! :D

Thanks Adam, thanks all. We used digital terrain and mapping from GetMapping, then added trees and objects under where buildings were. For the terrain of other periods it was a case of manipulating the aerial photo in Photoshop. If/when we get to do it for real - and we should know by the end of March - there's a lot more more I would do, such as remove the 'flat' trees that appear under the 3D ones. We've also done our first moving character in there using InterPoser. Unfortunaelty the costume we used (PhilC's) didn't handle the animation too well and thighs appear through the monk's habit. We're working on making our own animatable but that's a ways off yet. Thanks again. Mak

I must add after seeing the animation, you are doing a great and important job here. Have you had any response from any historical institution? VOTE! :)) Strata

Thanks Strata. The animation and stills are been used by Llangollen Museum/Cadw (Welsh side of English Heritage) for a Heritage Lottery Fund bid to put in a virtual tour at the site. We're also working with Dr David Mason and the Chester Archaeology Society as well as waiting to hear from Shropshire County Council about a project with them. There are a few other things on the virtual horizon and we were recently contacted by Time Team. Fingers crossed! Mak
