Description

This image is actually part of the source material for a more complex image that should appear in a few days, but since this component may well lose detail before I'm done, I wanted to post this raw image, just for the record. On one level it's every bit as simple as it looks. Victoria 3 with a head morph applied (and new eyes) and then just layering some of the many, many parts that make up Sanctum Arts' superb VAP Grim armor. On another, some experimentation and their spectacular results prompted me to write a simple PoserPython script that'd go over the many pieces of armor, each of which has *many* materials, and turn their PoserPro style heightmaps into Poser 5/6 style displacement maps. One click and a piece of armor becomes fully displacement-mapped, allowing you to save the material collection for later (personal) use. From a distance the difference isn't really noticable, but on a close-up like, say, a portrait, it's noticable in the casting texture of the armor, in the gouges and scratches that become as evident as the scrapes, even the soft bodysuit takes on an extra depth. The tool, which is really basic right now, should become available in my FreeStuff as soon as it gets through the approval process. New and improved versions'll follow. Meantime, I'm working through all of the renders required to get all of the source material I need for the finished image. Needless to say, it'll make an appearance here when it's done. Meanwhile, enjoy some displacement mapped armor.
