Description

One in a series of test renderings using the Beni character by "Devina Designs" on 3DCommune. All the tests used the same pose with variations in the style of hair and clothing worn (in this case, none). The idea was to take the resulting images and then spend some time messing around with Alien Skin's "Exposure" to see what sort of different looks I could achieve. I think I'd sum up the entire series as "freckles render nicely". While a large number of the "Exposure" presets worked very nicely, in the end I opted just to post the original image, unaltered, without any postwork. While some of the usual V3 flaws are in evidence, I was quite pleased to actually produce what I considered a decent open smile - this was done by hand-tweaking the morphs since so many of the "Big Smile" preset expressions I've seen end up giving the character something of a psycho-killer appearance. What I've produced here is an open, perhaps slightly shy smile, which in no way suggests axe murders. Non-Renderosity stuff used - V3 from DAZ, obviously, the Beni character which can be bought on 3DCommune, portrait background is DAZ. Renderosity stuff used:was the omnipresent Egypt hair, with a style and texture from Enigma Design's "Egypt Treasures". The lighting was one of the infinite sets from Yanelis' "Y3D Collection" that have become staples in my rendering because they look good, don't take forever to render, and seem to produce great results first time. Oh, and of course, face_off's skin realism and occlusion kits, without which no render would be complete. Well, no render featuring skin, anyway. Oh, I almost forgot - while the default character eyes were very nice, I've just got this thing about using Black Eyes 2 whenever possible if they fit the character morph. The rendering was done using my standard final quality Firefly render settings in P6 - displacement mapping enabled, most of the settings turned up as high as is sensible, no texture filtering.
