Description

Another one that I never quite got around to finishing. The composition's much as I wanted it to be, but "finishing" would involve putting in a suitably office-like environment, rather than a standard portrait backdrop and fixing the flaws. Ah, yes, the flaws. The most obvious one is my usual - hair poking through clothing. Other than that, all I'm not satisfied with is the odd little kink at the armpit and the pinch at the elbow. Another one that I never quite got around to finishing. The composition's much as I wanted it to be, but "finishing" would involve putting in a suitably office-like environment, rather than a standard portrait backdrop and fixing the flaws. I did try rendering this scene with Predatron's office rest area, but it turned out to be one of those scenes that cause Poser 7 to go off into la-la land, where it sits rendering a single bucket for 3 hours then just decides that the render is finished, even though most of the image is missing. Getting back to the flaws. The most obvious one is my usual - hair poking through clothing. This was just a fairly quick, thrown together scene, so I didn't attempt to correct this. Other than that, all I'm not satisfied with is the odd little kink at the armpit and the pinch at the elbow. Oh, and it'd be really nice if Kobamax made the photo area on the ID card a separate material, so that I could drop in an image that matched the character being rendered. Non-Renderosity items used were the Summer Hair from DAZ, a standard Miki 2 pose (Babette is clearly disagreeing with one of her co-workers), and the bra from Billy-T's Miki 2 Schoolgirl Outfit on Content Paradise. It's ironic that the only straightforward bra for Miki 2 (as against the multitude of latex, bondage and barely-there style lingerie available) is in a schoolgirl outfit. Oh, and the backdrop's from maclean's Fashion Studio, sold on DAZ. I honestly can't remember the lighting used - it was either one of the three excellent light sets provided with Babette or something from the RuntimeDNA Lightworks range. I find it slightly amusing that the blouse, although in its intermediate openness setting, would have gotten Babette a reprimand at the very least in most offices that I've worked in. The default would have gotten her fired. However, I used the intermediate setting (rather than the closed one, which would be just fine in most offices) simply because I liked the presence in kobamax's outfit of a morph to take the presence of the bra into account, and the added realism that the layered clothing provides. I have to say the central reason for this image, though, was the Babette character. One of the best Miki 2 characters I've seen by far. She's one of very few distinctively non-Asian looking Miki 2 morphs (not that I've got anything against the many excellent Miki 2 morphs that retain her Asian heritage) that actually manage to shed Miki 2's rather grumpy appearance. One thing I have observed with these "European" morphs that I'll pass on as a tiny tip is that it's instant death to use any pre-created facial expression. Do so, and suddenly she's Miki 2 again. Creating a facial expression for a character like Babette means twiddling those dials, and generally doing so by as small an amount as possible. It's only to be expected really - most Miki 2 morphs are intended to alter a face with Asian features, and thus preserve those. If you're dealing with a fairly radical facial morph, applying standard expressions can undo all of the character creator's hard work. So, nice character, nice outfit, shame about my render...
