Description
It was flown here to be a static model and here it rots... :( The control surfaces were fabric. The right aileron is under the fuselage.

Past its time. A while back PBS aired "The Last Flying Boat in Africa" featuring a stripped-out PBY with side blister windows. The flight went from Cairo south toward Soth Africa - film stopped at Mozambique. Always thought that would be the perfect way to view wildlife;low, slow, and with a picture window. -- Dick

Great subject! There's just nothing looks like this old Catalina. A shame it's rotting in peace in Florida. Maybe the Commemorative Air Force will find it and restore it. These were tough old birds, overengineered by modern standards, which is why many of them can still fly!
