Everywhere people with camera's find their way in this world to make their shots. I like the art of taking realistic pictures, because it provides a way to show how I experience this world. It is a way for other people to look through my eyes.Nature ... exists primarily for her face, her look, her appeals to the heart and the imaginationGeorge MacDonaldJan-Carel Vierbergen
Picture courtesy of Ruut WegmanBIOIt is all in the family: love for hiking in the nature. Since my childhood I'm used to walk with father, brothers, cousins, etc., and take pictures (Minolta X-700 with 28-70 mm and 100-300 mm zoom) of what I see. I grew up in Ede (The Netherlands), studied Electrical Engineering in Eindhoven and I am working now as Coordinator e-learning at the Christelijke Hogeschool Ede (http://www.che.nl) where I implement digital assessments for students and assist students in DTP and creating websites.
Since I know little about photographing as well as computer science it was not difficult to find ways for putting images on the web. The only thing to look for now is to find ways for showing the slides in a convenient way. I tried already something at http://www.che.nl/users/jcv (Dutch only, click at Dia's van de natuur in Nederland en de Alpen), but this platform provides good means to share my pictures with others.
I hope you enjoy this!

Just in case people are unaware, the US president, Bush has censored scientist for commenting the urgency in regards to cutting back on fossil fuels and making a global change due to the seriousness of the ice caps melting at an alarming rate. US scientist are not permitted to report on the urgency, instead, their work is being edited by the White House to reflect the governments view. Having said all that, I wish to express my joy in this very beautiful photograph. May these pristine places be around for generations to come.

Nice shot, Jan-Carel. I just love that blue ice. Re the global warming, there is currently no shortage of water up here in Scotland. We have had a series of Clear Air Acts passed by Parliament coveing industrial and domestic emissions ever since 1956. That was after the horrendous smog in London in 1952 which killed many people. Now we have, from today, Sunday 26/03/2006, in Scotland, no smoking of tobacco products in a public place - unless of course you are on fire too ;o) My wife sounded terrible on the 'phone today, just at the thought that she could no longer have a cigarette in her favourite cafe. I will not miss them, having only one and a half lungs! I am sure the air where you took this shot was very clear. Enjoy the gifts of the Lord, including clean air. Regards, John.
