I know Ford built the tri-motor but did Fomoco really own the trademark to that propellor Walker stylized in this design? The wide front end no longer with a narrow hood and fenders surely emphasized the V-8 engine finally. Raussenberg and Hispano-Suiza, Oldsmobile and Cadillac, even Curtiss would have applauded. You've done a really nice job of rolling in the windows instead of modern flush and adding the rain gutters. This is a crisp, lush, shiney beauty.

Thanks for the comments! Tallpindo, i don't think Ford owned the trademark on the bulletnose design. Studebaker used it in the next year. It was the postwar trend, taking after fighter planes like the P38 and P40 and using various styling cues like wings, intakes, spinners and whatnots. But this particular Ford simply did away with the wildest "torpedo" designs that were supposed to dominate the scene by the late 40s. Slabsided, "shoebox" style, this car actually saved Ford from financial disaster. Extensive restyling managed to make it last until 1956. Seven years, no small achievement. Rear view of this model can be seen at http://www.palat.com.br/images/ford49/13.jpg.

That's interesting....I never looked at the design as a propellor but as a jet intake and swept back wings, a design cue that was developed further in the 1951 version when two intakes were stylized into the grille opening. This was the beginning of the jet age and it never occured to me that a propellor image was was being incorporated into the front end design. All that aside, I am blown away by your work as always. Even the reflections demonstrate the manufacturing imperfections where panels meet ( doors, hood etc) Bravo!
