Description

Another one for Nigel! I posted a greyscale version of this back in 2001 in the wake of completing the artwork for a second compilation CD of archive material by ZBB entitled Embers. This curiously simple image appeared on the inside front cover of the black and white insert. ZBB (Zircon & the Burning Brains) existed between 1981 and 1987, based in the city of Leicester, England. Nigel "Naichan" Harris joined the brothers Alan and Steve Freeman from 1983 onwards in an exploration of sound using the most primitive of equipment and a great deal of enthusiasm! I guess I should dedicate this post to Alan as it's his 47th birthday today ;-) Thank you for taking a look and your thoughts are always appreciated :-)

I sort of expected this after the Cold Smoke Collection! Well if this had to be colourized then I guess this grim twylight red is most suitable. I've often wondered about that sphere, with the delicacy of a soap bubble, was it made simply with spherize filter in Photoshop? The twiggs look rather gruesome, and bit like hands, in this version, and I can't help but think of Jan Svankmajer's recent feature film, Otesanek, where a tree stump adopted by a desperate couple starts to take on the form of an infant. Seen it? So, all in all, a very worthwhile upgrade. S'much appreciated! From BB No.3 :-)

Not Spherize - if I remember right it was Polar Coordinate, though I'm thinking back five years here! Actually it may have been KPT RadWarp. Not seen Otesanek - I've actually seen very little Svankmajer in the scheme of things ;-)
