Description

I was just itching to do some photography on Saturday but the day was very overcast and dull. We went on an hour's drive across country to go and choose a puppy from a litter on a farm. We passed through great swathes of yellow because the dreaded rape fields are now blooming but the light was really flat and uninspiring. Then suddenly, we turned a corner and I spotted this solitary snail-mail box on the edge of a rape feild. I did my usual cry of STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (My husband can just about respond to that now without swerving the car off the road in reaction to my sudden screams). I leapt out and spent ages attacking it from all angles while my very patient husband sat in the car and listened to the football. I pepped it up with a bit of flash and then zazzed it up even more in photoshop later on. I will not let flat light days get the better of me!! The unretouched shot is really lifeless and dull. Thank you to all who have been looking at my pics and making kind comments. By the way, we pick our puppy up on Saturday when she is ready to leave mum. She is a gorgeous little white German Shepherd/Lab cross and is the niece of our other dog who is now 2 - (we are getting her to keep him company).

ekkkkkkk those rape seed blooms.. suffering surrounded by this stuff... but it does cheer up the countryside and looks awsome againt that good old traditional snail mail box:)

LOL!! I DO THAT TOO THAT whole STOP THE CAR RIGHT now and drive my family nuts get the rolled eyes and oh no here Mom goes again ..hahah loved reading your story there and the red yellow and blue colors here really beautiful ..fantrastic compo and roadide spring beauty!!

LOL, I know exactly how you feel when you cry "STOP"... Don't want to miss the century shot, isn'it ? I see that it's very common illness among photographers ! Very nice and brilliant colors here ! Excellent photo, Gilly ! :~)

I think you did a most awesome job!!! I think my girlfriend is used to those screams as well :] I really like how you 'fixed it up'. I just think the red is a bit bright, would be great for a converted vector... IMOO :]
