Wow, thats an impressive point of view. You should take photos of these fellows more often. Whats with the recent trend of providing a mini education with animal photos? Mind you, I know what you mean about the size of these creatures - photos just don't do them justice, unless you can get someone to go stand next to him ;)

Awesome creature and capture, Piet. Thank you for the info, very informative. Think I would be doing a "runner" if standing by your side whilst you took this shot :-) Have a wonderful day. Hugs.

Oh oh.... that's what I call a smile !!!!! Great shot Piet, and so impressive too ! This male is a wonder, and your shot too. But please... if you don't know him.... stay far from him, OK ? lol ! That remind me my childhood in Africa. When I was a little girl, I was so shure I've worked to take care from the animals in Africa.... and save all of them ! Thank you for this fantastic photograph my friend. Hugs

What an impressive animal, Piet! I never knew there were lions with black manes--looking at this it's easy to see why they are the Kings of the jungle! Even with his battle scars he's a beautiful and regal animal! I so love the way you tell us about these beautiful animals you photograph since most of us will never have the experience of seeing one in real life--the reading's as much fun as the picture. Keep up the wonderful work!
