Description

Hello all!! Taken a few days ago . My first dragonfly!! yeaaa ! ( I have one that looks like a little like one in black and white in my gallery called wings in light but thats actually a moth of some sort ) So this little red guy with an attitude (LOL) was my first dragonfly here and so, I did my best to get a macro of him. This is cropped just barly . I was that close ( I was two -three inches away ). Problem was it was quite windy and the leaf was blowing and he was riding that leaf and holding on determined ! THe little red guy seemed to stare at me curiously and intently !! lol... SO , to try and keep him and the leaf he was on still (so I could begin to focus on the macro ) I held on to the swaying leaf he was on and then tryed to shoot with my other hand (which I discovered is quite hard - doing a macro to hold the came with one hand and steady it without a trypod on a windy day haha ) without scaring him away . I think his wings were moving in the shot though so couldnt get them like I had wanted. SO this was the best I could do for the first time . I took a few other shots from above looking down on the wings and backside that was perfectly focused and clear but like this angle from a lower profile position better..!! Taken with my little nikon 7900 pocket cam that really does goes with me everywhere in my pocket lol!! hope its ok...for a first try at one anyways... Thanks for all your time and comments! Love to you all! ((( Big hugs ))) ♥ ~ Kimmers ! :O) ! :O)

excellently done - doesn't look like a first try - although: the perspective doesn't do complete justice to the wings, which wasn't that bad if the eyes were sharper (not the feet); but to get this you really need time and thousand trials...compliments...

As if you really wanted to convince me that you can do more with your little camera than me with the 'big one'... LOL. Need I say more? You sure convinced me, alright...

Fantastic photo, it's amazing you got so close. Two years ago I took a photo of a Damselfly, which is smaller, as I drove from Italy through France and home in the UK. I stayed at a campsite near a stream where these amazing creatures were dashing over the water, I was so pleased I got a photo, but it's not half as good as yours here, well done. Steve:)
