Description

Here is an optical illusion I received via email last year. Not sure where it came from originally. 1st: You will notice it is just 12 pink dots (like a clock). One dot at a time is removed and the last is replaced. Thus; only 11 pink dots are displayed at any given moment. (always) 2nd: Stare at the black X in the middle. 3rd: The pinks dots will start to dissappear. 4th: They are replaced by a single green dot moving around the circle. This demonstrates how your brain automatically adjusts to the field of view. Your brain manufactures mis-information. Also: Did you know you only see color in front of you? The sides are actually Gray scale and your brains fills the color detail with mis-information. Also: You have a big blind spot (optic nerve) in each eye. Again, your brain fills this spot with mis-information. So.. A lot of what you see is pure fabrication made up by your brain. Comments appreciated.... Hugs from Dave :^)

Okay! Now I stared at the plus sign for nearly 10 min, every time I would add a dot it turned green.!! LOL! Actually, I see a trail of green dots. As the purple pass it is replaced by a green, and the green circle moves clockwise around the screen. The purple dots I see instead of pink could just be my monitor. oh wow! Now I finally see it..but the green still moves around the screen! Oh i'm so not all left brained! did you know that if you stare and squint your eyes, you see two circles? Love it !

The answer is unclear, because of differences of opinion about just what constitutes a distinctive color. As an example, colors can appear to change depending on lighting sources or reflective properties of a surface. Also, many complexities are involved with the way the human eye and brain work together to recreate a color image. The human eye's light sensitive cells (primarily, cones) absorb primary colors of red, green, and blue that manifest through different wave lengths of light. Mixtures of those primary colors then give us all the many hues and shades of colors. Millions of potential colors exist, although the human eye is unable to distinguish between all of them. Very cool Young Fella George!

Wow did I ever get a whole lot of learning in this one! Never knew any of those things about the eye or the brain. So thank you for the lesson. I've seen this same eye test before it just keeps comming around and was always tripped by it but now I at least understand the why of it now. Great one Dave! Thank you for the info.

Actually, in one sense (pardon the pun) the eyes don't lie.. just sounded like a clever title.. heheheh. But your Brain most certainly does lie to you. Your vision is ALWAYS incomplete. The visual processing center at the back of your head fills in these empty gaps in information from whatever resources it can find, including your imagination. As far as colors are concerned, they really are arbitrary. Try explaining the color Green to a person that's been blind from birth.. you'll see what I mean. We can only see 3 colors: Red, Blue and Green. Other colors (Ie. Yellow) are simply made up Hues. For that matter, so is Red, Blue & Green. Visual information comes from the eyes as electrical signals. Electricity has "NO" color. We must mentally assign them a color to differentiate between them. For example, we would both agree that the Sky is Blue because that's what we learned. And everyone would agree that my shirt is blue because it's the color of the sky. But if I could see inside your mind, I might see that You have personally assigned what I would call Green, to the Sky, etc, etc.. Anyway, the above Illusion shows the mathematical vision processing that takes place in your brain. It's largely about persistence of vision. That's why when you look away from the illusion, you see Green dots (absence of Red). This post is in response to Paula Sanders article on the Rosity Front Page. Hugs from Dave :^)
