Description

Some Summer storms came through recently, the last mercifully dumped 2 inches on us, like everywhere, we are unseasonably dry this Summer. One of the storms never really reached us, though it made for a spectacular light show in the distance. Deep rumbling sound was the other effect to reach us. I missed the most dramatic part of the show (Walking the dogs!! ; ) but I managed to get some good stuff! This is a simple 8 frame animation of the tail-end of the storm. I will also post the still image as these lose detail in the GIF process. Almost Friday!!! ; )

Awesome ani and I love the rainbow that seems to show up between flashes even if it's not supposed to be there. Storms can be so beautiful.

Interesting shot. Even more interesting post work. I like it. The colors are really great.

Thanks Mollymaye, but there is no postwork, aside from the gif conversion, which reduces the colors from millions to under 200. Hence the noisy pixelated pattern. Tomorrow I will post the uncompressed version.

Wow, Eric. To me God is the greatest artist. You were able to capture and convey some of His casual work.

........a PLEASURE to view -- I absolutely LOVE thunderstorms - but I live in an area ( Toronto ) where such storms avoid the city like the plague ( heat islands or something ) ---- wish it had sound --- nice job !!!

Same here Eric...we rarely get rain. You got 2 inches and we got a drizzle....my yard is dying. Rain north of us, rain, power outages and flooding south of us but none for us. When the clouds from the west hit near Lake Michigan, they split and go north and south. We are right at that split point and rarely receive rain. OOPSSS...sorry, feeling pretty damn sad about this subject. Forgot to tell you what a cool animation you did. Especially like that it is a photograph. I gotta learn to do animations...too cool :)

"To me God is the greatest artist. You were able to capture and convey some of His casual work." -- I couldn't have said it better. Thank you for sharing this amazing storm, and in animated form! What an awesome idea!
