I started around 12/2002 when my brother give me microsoft 2001!picture it that is where i learn. I like to help others in art showing them there a better way of doing things. Not just past a image thougth a filter and post it.But take the image a add to it// cut// bend the colors and make real art.Use layes and lays of images. each showing what is under it. blowing your mind as you make it hopeing others will look at it and say that far out man BIOborn on Sept 23, 1951 in lake charles,la. just haveing fun dont like doing the same things over and over. It like eating you eat diff things all the time.

Wow! Fabulous capture, Jock!! I've tried many times to catch a lightning bolt (on film) but met with no success. Great shot, and interesting info too.

Nice capture my friend! Not east at-all!!!

Very lovely shot, and great lesson! You said you don't know why the ozone is thicker around big cities. I think it's because God knows we need it more. ;) I learned a lot from your notes about lightning generating ozone in the atmosphere. Glad to be able to say, "Ya' learn something new every day!" Thanks! :D

A very interesting post. I guess we have a big hole in the ozone layer here in Hawaii since our volcanoes are active. And do not fly those Japanese planes at night...lol. Just kidding. Excellent capture of this lightning... Aloha

Very tricky to capture...well done, a lot of these digital camera have a motor drive option, so you can get 50 shots all in a sequence ! my camera has a delay which makes this kind of capture really hard to get, kool OZONE pic Cheers

Marvelous photography !! and a terrific text to explain !! very good indeed !

It is difficult to capture the lightning indeed. Hey, Jocko, did you know that if you put freon and ozone in a bottle and the lighning strikes it, the freon, the ozone and the bottle all disappears. LOL ;) just kidding. I'm not going to hold the bottle to find out.
redbeard
Nice balance between the lightning and that one light. Great looking capture!

Good atmospheric shot, although the lightning bolt looks kind of wimpy. Difficult to time lightning bolts; probably have to leave the camera on a tripod with the shutter open, but then you lose the blackness of the scene.

Spectacular capture Jock!

I'd like to point out that the oceans do NOT produce freon. Freon is strictly a man-made chemical. In fact, I just read an article published by Columbia University saying that Freon is being used to trace ocean currents. This is possible because there is NO naturally-occurring Freon in the oceans - if you put a ton of it into the water and then detect it miles away, weeks later, you know it's the stuff you put there. It may be that there are naturally-occurring chemicals in the ocean that also deplete ozone, but if someone's telling you the ocean is emitting Freon, they are lying to you. The oceans DO produce a huge amount of chlorine, which is what actually destroys the ozone, but this chlorine is returned to the ocean by rainfall before it can reach the stratosphere where the important ozone lives. Furthermore, the amount of ozone generated by lightning is only a small fraction of the stratospheric ozone, which is mainly generated by ultraviolet light reacting with oxygen. Nice picture, though. I know how hard it is to capture lightning - I've only succeeded using video equipment.
