Description

A possible illustration for a children's book, this is just a character test though, not final piece. Achieved using Mojoworld and Cinema 4D 9.5 Cinema 4D : Rhino rendered using Area lights, Global Illumination, sub-surface scattering, SubPolygon Displacement and texture baking - it has been boned and rigged, so is fully animatable Mojoworld : A tweaked version of'Babba Yagga' Addition : Book is a non commercial project, of which I am the co-author. No Rhinos were hurt during the making of this publication !! Rhino model - copyright

Angela this is outstanding & a great piece of work in its own right. If not as a book image then certainly as a childs bedroom wall poster. The cheekiness in the character is very humourous & greatly welcomed (as things could use some lightening up). The lighting is spot on & the character compliments its surroundings & vice versa. Maybe the addition of the odd comical grass clump or plant may add to te images power but not a necessity:) VOTE. I have a niece that would love this image, if a large version is available for printing:-)

Thanks for the nice comments so far.... Sylphie : will let you know when book is available Woz : Thanks - As I said, this isn't the finished illustration, it will be fleshed out with other elements, birds, grasses etc - X-frog stuff probably. Certainly you can have a hi-res version of this particular render, give me a couple of days Styxx : thanks very much Turner : Not available to buy, well only if you purchase Cinema 4D R8.5 I think, then geometry and textures augmented.

this real funny, cool composite, and rhino's texture fits the planets mats very well, only I'm not so sure about the camera banking

I love the humour in this - a wee pile of poo might have been topped it off (although maybe not in a children's book ;-)).

Love the clear look of the textures on the Rhino (cool shadows too). Did you map the Mojo redered background on the camera in C4D?

Slav : No it was comped in Photoshop - I think what your referring to on the textures is the effect of Sub-Surface Scattering, so thinner areas of the mesh, like the horn and ears will absorb/transmit light differently thereby giving the illusion of translucency

Turner : If you don't own Cinema 4D R8 (not 8.5) then you will be confused ;-) It's on my 'Goodies' CD, path is as follows : GoodiesTutorialsscenesRenderingStills I purchased the upgrade to Cinema 4D R8.5, so don't have the suite of CD's that came with it. Chances are it will be on there, maybes with the same path structure ? I will tell you though - I was given permission to use this model from Perry Stacy, CEO of Maxon UK, so if your gonna publish images containing it, I suggest you do the same. Ang
