This is an image (one of about 50) that my son took. I was going to put up one of the ones he took of me straightening my skirt, fluffing my hair, fixing my bra, making a face or yelling at him to quit laughing and just take the stupid picture ... but decided on this one instead.BIOI am a freelance writer and published author, from Canada. I also putter with web design and fractals. My friends cringe when they open their e-mail and see an attachment with the subject line "What do you think of this one?"
I also do public speaking and have a book published, on bullying, which came out this year. I speak in schools and for different organizations about bullying and writing and it's pretty time consuming but a lot of fun ... the kids are great. I also work for a major financial institution, I guess you could say in my spare time. :)
I have a website for the book, if anyone is interested in seeing what it's about ...

Such beautiful thoughts and words.. I say thank you to you. I lost my Father at Christmastime, my sister in Springtime.. I will try to print out your poem. It would help me.. Good luck with your work. Wonderful dedication to Brian... Blessed be, both of you. Diane.

August seems to be a cruel month - I lost my mother then also. I offer my sincere condolences to both you and Brian. This is truly beautiful, my dear Pat ... tender and heartwarming. Memories are indeed precious and tiptoe along your peaceful path into our thoughts on tiny feet. A hug for you and a manly arm around the shoulder for Brian Mike [had to repost my comment because I omitted the word 'path' ... there's no mechanism for editing comments and RR won't allow second comments] [slaps wrist and apologises!!!!]

Thanks for this poignant and beautifully elusive poem that weaves through the reader's own memories like a key to many doors of unacknowledged personal sorrow and, perhaps, to hope as well

I, too, think of my dad often. We "lost" him Christmas morning 1988 but he continues to make his presence known when I see, hear, smell the things he cherished and his words (almost audibly) come to mind. I think my father felt the same way about those he had loved and lost. It's my joy to know that he is reunited with them now and that one day I will be with him once more. Thank you for posting, you've brought wonderful feelings with your words.

Thank you all for your fabulous comments. Brian, the picture was taken up north, around my dad's cottage. There's just something about this path. It's kind of a lonely path that starts in a field and really serves no purpose. It leads to a road that leads to Eugenia Falls. I think that before they put in the highway this was a travelled path, but now it's just there. So I guess if you are in the overgrown field for some reason, which I can't think of, and want to get to Eugenia Falls, this path takes you there. I'll send you the full image. This is the cropped version since we can't put up larger images in the writer's gallery. :)
