Description
Ultrafractal 4.03
Here's another one of my "geofractal" meanderings inspired by the great stuff created by Joe Presley (joefraq) and especially by a recent work by Jock Cooper that I just dropped to my knees (and that's hard to do sitting at a desk - lol) when I saw it. I tried to give a subtle vibe like the Sunshine Skyway bridge that goes across Tampa Bay here in Florida. I don't know about Jock's, but I know from plying him with like a 12-pack and a half of beer that Joe uses the "IFS-Barnsley+Jock III" formula in the "jock.ufm" folder, so that's what I'm trying to get a handle on. Tough searching to get these angular shapes! This is a tweak of my recent "Venezia" image with extra stuff and some different colorings since it gave me a good starting point with angular "geoshapes". Check out Joe's "Tribute to Zemela" (amazingly dynamic woman and artist!) entry in the ICM contest - http://www.fractalartcontests.com/2006/winners.php
and Jock's "8364" - http://excalibur.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1283263
and y'all will see what I'm trying to do.
This is nowhere near what these guys have done and I need to get a handle on the coloring (browns are "in" with art contest judges and buyers) but it's a start. I opted against the "oil paint" texturing this time because it didn't look good with the jaggies in the "water" - I'll have to render this guy much bigger and with maybe a higher bailout to see if they go away. This is the best thing about being a member of an art community is the exposure to all sorts of great influences and ideas.
Thanks so VERY much for stopping by and for such warm support of my stuff for so long!
Rick

Awesome composition!

It's a great abstract composition and the translucent quality of the colouring is very appealing. It could almost be a stained-glass window project. I've read your technical explanation obediently but it adds little to the aesthetics of the image. Masterful work.
clifftoppler
Surprisingly different but well worth the effort. It should look great as a print - when you've finished with it, of course. I suppose you used umpteen layers again and much masking? Simplicity is concealment.

Very cool play of angles, color and light. Visually fascinating. Love the illusion of depth and being able to see through the layers. Excellent artwork, Rick.

Rykk, this is an awesome creation! I'll have to visit the other artists as you suggested, as I'm amazed this came from UF. WOW!! There has to be some major tweeking to find this type of fractal. Great flow and colors. The style is magnificent, reminds me of what we were TRYING to do in the 60's and 70's. :) Excellent title, too, btw.

How's you do that?!?!!? lol q-: When I used that ufm it came up as a black screen. Bummer, and I love these geometrics, so you made me try it. Maybe it's because I don't have the new version. This is awesome my friend. I love it! Excellent work! (:

Another killer cubism work, Rick! Wonderful blend of line & curve! The suggestion of water at the bottom is a very nice touch. The contrast in this peice lends such awsome depth to this peice. THANX :)
